Week 12
Week 12, wow.

A busy week again for tired Troop 35.  There was a lot happening this week but that is the norm here at Depot.

We started out with some domestic violence scenarios at Comier Court.  This is the trailer that has cameras all through it so when you are doing your scenarios, your troopmates can sit back and watch you and laugh at all your mistakes.  We had the actors from off base again and like before and they added a nice sense of realism to the scenarios.  We learned since our last scenarios at Comier Court that the trailer we use to do our learning in is based on a trailer that two RCMP officers were killed in when responding to a domestic violence call back in the 70's.  This really made us think when we went there, knowing that two of our fellow officers died going to situations that we were responding to.

Firearms is coming along nicely.  I can see a big improvement from my earlier scores than what I am shooting now.  We had a practice qualification in class this week and if it was real I would of qualified and got crossed pistols on my red serge.

This week was dominated by the midterm exam.  I was not too worried about the exam but I always get nervous when we have some sort of test whether it is driving or firearms or whatever.
So I went to the hall where we were writing the exam, it was the same hall where I wrote my entrance exam about a year and three months ago and it brought back memories of that day.  But instead of being in a room full of strangers I was in a room full of troopmates.  The test went well, of course I can't talk about any of the questions but I felt that I did quite well on it.  Luckily for us the test is a multiple choice test that is graded by a computer, so we only have to wait a couple of hours to find out what our marks were.
So after we were all done we went to our next class but we were all really just thinking of how we did on the test.  We were told by our instructors to meet them back at the hall after our class to find out our marks.  So after class we all headed over and were called out to the hallway to find out our marks.  I went out when it was my turn and two of my facilitators were standing out in the hall holding a piece of paper and they were looking for my name... they couldn't find it.  Apparently the computer spelled my name wrong but they found my ID number and told me my mark.  I got an 'S'!!!!!
He told me that myself and three other troopmates got the highest mark on the test with an 85.4%.
Our troop did very well on the test with the average score being 76%, one of the highest averages that Depot has seen in a while.

I am writing this a couple of weeks after the fact so I can't remember when we did everything exactly but I believe it is this week that we started to learn how to use our baton.  Now we have received training on everything on our tool belt.  We learned the different ways to strike with it and how to gain control if someone tries to steal it from us.

We also gained a cadet this week, which brings us up to 28 again.  He was backtrooped from a troop that he was with earlier this year, welcome Trevor to Troop 35!

Troop 35 is going strong and picking up steam, keep going baby!!
