Week 11
Halfway.

It is hard to believe that Troop 35 is halfway through our journey here at Depot.
This week was without a doubt the busiest week that we have had at Depot.  It started on Monday with Patrol Drive 3.  I was quite worried about this drive even though I have done all right on all my other drives, but I always do get nervous before.  To my delight I found this drive easier than Patrol Drives 1 and 2.  I think I felt more relaxed once we started driving.  I had been practicing the techniques that had been taught but I was worried about the multitasking.  The part were you have to call in a plate and point out infractions while looking for Manitoba plates, meanwhile have a Corporal telling you what you did wrong.  But I did quite well and the entire Troop passed, so that is good.
Also on Monday we had the conclusion of our striking program, Rings.  This is were you and a troopmate but on your gear and have at it for 90 seconds.  You are allowed to punch, kick, knee or whatever but you have to do it to the upper body were the padding is.   We had some really good bouts, I did quite well throwing a lot of knees up at my opponent.  Unfortunately  we had one injury, a dislocated shoulder, but the person who got it is tough so I am sure he will pull through.

The rest of the week was what made it so busy.  We had our midway detachments.  This is where we get to play cops for the night (we start our day at 2:00 and go until 10:00).  You get teamed up with a partner and have to answer calls that get dispatched to you.  The first day I was an actor so I did my best Robert De Niro impression and acted my heart out.

On Thursday it was my turn to be the cop and my partner and I answer the calls that came into us.  I can't go into what the calls were and what was done but it really drove home the stuff that we had learned in class, such as radio work the different charges that we have to do ect.

On Friday we did half the day as actors half the day as cops and again we were teamed up with a partner and dispatched to various disturbances around Depot. It was a lot of fun doing the scenarios and the instructors that I had were very good in standing back and watching us go and answering the questions that we had when we were unsure of something.
But now the work started.   At the end of the day our facilitators told us that the files that we had were due on Monday!!  So instead of having one file due usually a week ahead of time we had several files due in two days!!  So long weekend, hello form flow!

So the entire weekend I spent at Depot working on the files that were due on Monday.  I finally got finished around 8 pm on Sunday.
So the week went by very quickly just like most weeks but I am glad this one is behind us.  Now I have to look forward to the midterm which is next Thursday.

GO 35!!
