Week 10 almost half way, and to top it off it is a short week thanks to the long weekend.
I came back to Depot relaxed and ready to go after recharging over the weekend. Good thing I was, this was one of the most physical weeks we have had at Depot. With us doing boxing we have PDT every day except one and we have PT twice as well.
We had to run the PARE again this week, it is the second time we have run it here while at Depot. The last time was in week 2 or 3 I think, then I ran it in 3:43. This time I ran it in 3:23, so I cut 20 seconds off the time. That's what you get for training as much as we do. Everyone in the troop did excellent on the PARE, good job 35!
Firearms this week was fun as well this week. We had to do our outdoor shooting/ Winter shooting. So here we are 27 cadets dressed up in our winter storm coats, fur hats and gloves in the middle of May. It was fun though, instead of shooting at targets which we usually shoot we got to shoot at steel plates. You could here a good ping when you hit the plate and it would fall over, it reminded me of going to the fair and shooting at one of the booths, except I got no stuffed animal for knocking down all the plates. We also continued with the shotgun this week, but on Tuesday we got to shoot them. Wow! I shot shotguns before so I was expecting the kick that some of the shots can give, but that '0' buck really has some punch. There were some bruised shoulders on Wednesday, but most people handled it quite well.
More boxing in PDT again this week, we have our final class known as 'rings' this upcoming week. The instructor was very firm on us going 110% at each other when it comes time to fight. We square off with a troopmate and fight all out for 90 seconds. Should be some sore jaws and headaches come next week. Good luck 35!!
Next week starts one of the busy weeks of Depot. Detachments. This should be fun but also will be a lot of work. I don't know if I will be able to update the site for week 11, that's how busy it will be. Also we have rings and patrol drive 3 on Monday, so this week will be a hard one.
