| So where did this 'I want to be a cop' thing come from? Aren't you a computer guy? | |||||||||||
| Being a police officer was always something that I had in the back of my mind. Of course having a father that was a RCMP officer, I was always exposed to the life of law enforcement. I had always loved computers and had a great opportunity to study them while in PEI, so I did. But working with them for around 5 years has left me wanting something else. I took up flying, and while that was enjoyable, I didn't think that a career was possible in that field. So that left me with the career that was always sitting on the back burner just waiting for the right time to present itself. So after some soul searching and discussions with my family and girlfriend I decided that this was the career for me. |

| So where are you in the recruitment process? How much longer until you get in? | |||||||||||
| As of Sept 5, I am waiting to be interviewed. I think this will be the most critical part of the whole process. The recruitment process goes like this: first off you have the written test (RPAT), if you pass that then you move on to the physical (PARE). If you pass that then you have the interview (both security and suitability) and the psychological assessment Then if you get by that you have the physical and dental checkups. The final step is the background investigation. All in total it can take from 6-18 months from start to finish. I am at the interview part so if I pass that I hope that it will be just a few more months and then I'm in. UPDATE: AS of Novemeber 9, I have completed all the steps for recruitment. I am now just waiting for them to give me the call and find out when I am on my way to Depot! |

| How long is the training if you get in? | |||||||||||
| The Depot training lasts 22 weeks, and from what I heard you are going the entire time you are there. Then once you graduate you have 6 months in the field training. | |||||||||||
