Published in early 2003. Paul revived his 80's team book, The Crew of the Wanderlust. The cast consists of the Saphire Family. Their family is a littl edifferent. Father, Phantom Knight, is a dark and mysterious detective, who might just be a ghost! Dr. Jessica Saphire is the mother, and invulerable as well as immeasurably strong. Finally daughter Samantha rounds out the group with the gift of super speed.
In this incarnation the group is joined by Marty Bishop, a man who may be a vampire, and family friend, Jason Marcy's Powerwus!
What sets this series apasrt from your regular hero team book is that it doesn't revolve around superheroiness. Instead the stories places these super powered heros in plot types such as horror, sci-fi, humor, and slice of life.
Struggling comic artist Davis runs into his old friend Allison at the mall. When the two catch up Allison discovers that Davis had just walked in on his girlfriend in bed with his best friend. Allison too has a strugglingart career and a boyfriend that shows no interest in her.
Quinn writes this story like it could come straight out of anyone else. The dialogue has a sheer deftness about it that makes you feel like you're a fly on the wall watching real life events unfold.
