Katrina

there once was a hurricane Katrina
she was no light toed ballerina
tore up the town so no Jazz
bureaucrats go down to rule what has
the foul stench of fear, is hovering near, the cantina

FEMA mistakes they've no charges
black bodies stacked on flat barges
dogs lost with no masters
clogs streets in disasters
a couple of soldiers are sarge's

helicopter blades stir the fetid humid air
tattered people wave on rooftops share
answer the bell
save us from hell
others pass on, old souls rise, fly coated eyes, stare
