Andrea Michelle Box Turtle

Andrea Michelle is the oldest box turtle I have. I'm not sure how old she is, but she sure is set in her ways. She spends 99.9% of her time standing in the doorway of the house that I built for the turtles. She's a very cautious turtle and makes a hissing sound when she pulls her head in if she feels frightened. The hiss is from air rushing out of her because her head is contracting into her body. Other than that the only sound she makes is when she eats or digs around.

When I first got her, she had almost no color in her shell or on her head. After a couple years of feeding her a mixture of dog food and juiced carrots, her coloring has returned. It also took her a couple of weeks for her to adjust to our home when we first got her.

Unfortunately, Andrea Michelle had a repiratory infection and passed away a couple of years ago.
