The Nottingham Thing

Cast and Crew

Paul James

Paul is the writer of The Cycling Thing, Forest of Doom: The Cycling Thing II and now The Nottingham Thing. The stories are told from his perspective, so he always comes off best! Born in 1977, he is the youngest of the four heroes.

In The Cycling Thing, Paul is asked to join the group and overcomes two punctures and the abysmal weather to complete the trip. In Forest of Doom, he has a cycling accident and spends the last two days with a swollen and sprained wrist. In the third chapter, The Nottingham Thing, he has overcome the trauma of the previous two adventures.

He also played the role of El Paso Paul in the Mexican Trilogy: Mexicans in Southsea, Return of the Mexicans and War of the Mexicans.

Chris Gillmore

Chris was one the people who first thought of going on the Cork to Kerry ride and is therefore a creator of the Team Lard / Cycling Thing series. He does most of the organisation work and plans the trips.

Chris was the chief navigator in The Cycling Thing, and was blamed for getting the others lost. This character trait continued in Forest of Doom when he misplaced the whole Forest of Dean (he thought it was in Wales!). At the end of the last chapter, he also had a bike crash after a particularly challenging jump.

He is also heavily involved in organising the events on which the Mexican Trilogy is based and takes the role of Chief Baha, leader of the bandits.

David Parr

Dave is another veteran of all three Team Lard adventures, first appearing in The Cycling Thing. He booked himself into a hotel when it rained and left his mark on the island of Cape Clear. In Forest of Doom, he exposed himself to the pub landlady after losing at cards. He also managed to cut his hands in both episodes.

He also played Desperado Dave in Return of the Mexicans and War of the Mexicans.

Kevin Feltham

A trained fireman, Kevin joined Team Lard in Forest of Doom: The Cycling Thing II. He is the oldest of the four main characters in The Nottingham Thing and provides the transport.

Kevin has also appeared as bandit elder Chilli Chilli Kev Kev in all three episodes of the Mexican Trilogy.

Rocky the Singing Lobster

Rocky takes the role of Laurence in The Nottingham Thing and adds a musical touch to the proceedings, as well as providing the opportunity for some comedy.

A distinguished singer, Rocky has also sung for Her Majesty the Queen.
