I've always enjoyed model trains ever since my father would put out his American Flyer trains around the Christmas tree every year. They were always a special part of the holiday for me. I still have them on display in my house and will post pictures of them as well.
Anyway, back to the garden...I purchased my first Aristo 0-4-0 Switcher Passenger starter set in 1999 and set it up in the gameroom on the carpet. The dreams of an outside railaway started taking shape and I began construction in the fall of 2001. Today, it is doing very well and this site will document it's progress.
The best thing so far about the garden railroad is it's become something my wife and I can both work on together. Carol is a gifted gardener and she has helped me immensely. I wouldn't have gotten so much pleasure out of the garden without her help.
