Patio Construction |
By 2004, we were sure we wanted to do something special around the garden, not just in it. We had visited my brother Frank in Maryland and fell in love with his flagstone patio so we were set on adding the same kind of charm to our Southwestern Pennsylvania backyard. |

This is what we started out with. The yard went right up the surrounding wall. The ruts in the grass are from the heavy equipment our contractor had used to remove the old wooden retaining walls and excavate the area for the new brick walls. Not sure why there is a huge Spiderman water gun in the shot. |

This brick wall is new. Previoulsy, there was just a shaggy hedge along the driveway. The patio will surround the maple tree in the center of the photo |

Here is the main part of the patio after the ground was leveled and the stone was laid. You can just see part of the railroad in the bottom right hand corner. |
