Automatic Seatbelt System

These automatic seatbelts will avoid possibility to drive vehicles if the driver's and the passenger's seatbelts are not properly fastened on the front and, possibly, on the rear seats.

We suggest two models of these seatbelts. The first model utilizes the standard mounting points, usually found on the inner car frame. In the second model, the seatbelts are completely mounted on the seat itself. In both cases, the seatbelts are constructed as a closed loop, i.e., without locks, and the 'lay on' mechanism is mounted directly to the seat.

The Automatic seatbelts system works as following: under the opening of the door of the vehicle, the 'lay on' mechanism lifts the seatbelts upward and fix it above the seat. When the door is closed, the 'lay on' mechanism moves the seatbelts down and fasten them.

The advantages of the proposed system:
1) It can be mounted on either new, or used cars, since it requires no modification of the car body, or its parts;
2) Low cost of the 'lay on' mechanism: estimated cost is around 30 $US;
3) More robust and simple mechanism as compared to all known automatic seatbelt systems. In addition, the proposed mechanism fasten both diagonal and horizontal pieces of the seatbelt (the today's systems can fasten only the diagonal piece).
