Not
a hippopotamus but a HYPOCRITE???
Lets
look at the definition from Webster's dictionary:
Hypocrite: a person who puts on a false appearance
of
virtue or religion.
Jesus
also has a lot to say about hypocrites in the Bible.
In
Luke chapter 6, Jesus says the
following:
41"Why
do you look at the speck of sawdust in your
brother's
eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own
eye?
42 How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me
take
the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to
see
the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite,
first take
the
plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly
to
remove the speck from your brother's eye.
We see that a hypocrite is someone who claims to be a
Christian
(i.e. "saved") but is really a pretender and an actor.
THE HYPOCRITE TEST
Take the hypocrite test to
see if you qualify. Only take this
If you claim to be a
Christian or “religious”:
Do
you judge others harshly without using the same
standard
for yourself? YES
NO
Do
you watch movies and TV shows that glorify sin?
i.e.
violence, sex, lust, witchcraft, drug use, etc. YES
NO
Do
you listen to music that glorifies sin (see above examples
In
question # 2)? YES
NO
Do
you go to church on Sunday yet, during the rest of the
week, pretty much live you life like coworkers, classmates
and
neighbors who do not claim to serve God? YES
NO
If you answered yes to any of these question you are indeed
A
HYPOCRITE!!!
But
you say, “hey, I am not perfect but I am A
GOOD PERSON.”
Are
you really a “good person?” First
we have to establish the
Standard of what “good” is before you can say that.
Are
you good enough to go to Heaven?
1. "You shall have no other gods before Me."
Is God 1st in your life? Has He always been? Do you
Love Him above all else including family and possessions?
The sentence for breaking this commandment is DEATH.
2. "You shall not make for yourself any graven image."
This means we cannot make a god to suit ourselves, either with our
hands or with our minds. Is your god the One in the Bible? The Bible
says that no idolater will enter the
3. "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain."
Have you ever taken God's name in vain? Instead of using a 4 letter word to
express disgust, you've used His name? Hitler's name wasn't even despised
enough to use as a curse word. If you have used His holy name in that manner
you are a blasphemer and will not enter the
4. "Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy."
Have you always kept the 7th day holy before God? If not, then
you are guilty of breaking this commandment.
5. "Honor your father and your mother."
Have you always honored your parents in a way that's pleasing
in the sight of God? Ask Him to remind you of the sins of your
youth. You may have forgotten them but God hasn't.
6. "You shall not murder."
Jesus warned that if we get angry without cause we are in danger of
judgment. If we hate our brother, God calls us a MURDERER. We can
violate God's law by attitude and intent.
7. "You shall not commit adultery."
Jesus tells us that we commit adultery if we look at a woman or man to
lust after them. So we can sin in thought as well as deed. God sees all
our thoughts. The Bible tells us that fornicators and adulterers will not
enter the
8. "You shall not steal."
Have you ever taken something that didn't belong to you regardless of
its value? Then you are a thief! You cannot God's kingdom.
9.
"You shall not bear false witness."
Have you ever lied? Ever told just a "little white lie?" The you are a liar.
The Bible warns that ALL liars will have their part in the lake of fire.
10. "You shall not covet."
Have you ever been jealous of something someone had or desired to
have something that didn't belong to you? The covetous will not
inherit the
Wow! you are a LAWBREAKER before God and are NOT worthy to
enter His presence! If you continue in your sin you are hopeless
but there is a way that leads to life if you choose to make the right decision...
GIVE
YOUR LIFE TO JESUS CHRIST
Only Jesus can set you free. He paid the price for you when
He died on the cross nearly 2000 years ago. He is coming back
to judge the world and how can we stand if we reject such a salvation?
You social standing, job, friends, and the place of worship you attend
will not win you any points with Jesus. Only living by His word makes
us Christians. As the Bible says, "Choose this day whom you will
serve (Joshua 24:15).
If you want to truly give your life to Jesus, pray this prayer:
Father
God, I know I am a sinner. Even worse, I know that I am a hypocrite
and
have lived a life of pretense. I have never known you, I just acted like
I
did. Now I have seen the sins of my ways and know that I cannot even hope
to
enter your eternal presence without accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior in
my
life. Jesus, come into my life. Make me a new creation totally sold out to
serving
You. Thank you, Jesus, for dying for me. I forgive myself and I know
you
forgive me as well. Thank you Lord for everything! In Jesus Name, Amen.
WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU AND SHARE IN THE JOY OF YOUR
NEW FOUND LIFE IN JESUS IF YOU PRAYED THE PRAYER ABOVE. FOR MORE
