My Trek With Paulie

Officers Row

Welcome to Officers Row near the Fort Vancouver replica site. Here, there are many restored houses that people rent or use as offices. One is now a fancy restaurant (Grant House) and another is a period house that has been restored in furnishings of long ago and is open for tours to the general public.(Marshall House)

I am standing by two cannons that are placed near the Army Barracks on Officers Row.

Here is another view of the same two cannons.

We are coming closer to the George Marshall House. It is completely restored inside and out. We did not go inside for a tour.

This is one side of the Marshall house. Do you see the "wrap around porch?" I like the big tree on the lawn.

Here is a closeup of the Marshall House and the sign out front. It is such a fun looking house! We both like their Victorian tower.

This is a closer view of the front of the house and sign designating it to be a historical landmark.

One last photo of me right in front of the Marshall House. . .I am getting good at posing for Paulie's camera now!

All along Officer's Row there are little plaques placed on the lawn near the public sidewalks. This one shows the words in front of the Marshall House. It is a little hard to read because the words are engraved and get dirty and wet from the weather but Paulie will add them all here anyway. Maybe later she will write out the words on each monument stone. For now, you can see them with a magnifying glass or if the computer screen is projected on a larger screen. In a way, they tell the history of Vancouver.

Paulie took photos of me with every single plaque but she will only put this one on the site because it takes too much time to download when you view the page. Below, you will find the rest of the plaques all along the lawns and near the public sidewalks. Community members and groups paid for them and got their names engraved on them as the donars.
