My Trek With Paulie

Vancouver Monument -- Port Authority Bandstand

We next walked down to the waterfront of the Columbia River. This is a photo of the monument built to honor George Vancovuer, the captain of the ship, "Discovery," that first explored the Columbia River and came to Fort Vancouver, now known as just Vancouver. The city of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada was also named for him.

This photo commemorates George Vancouver's ship "Discovery." It shows the map of the Columbia River that he and his men explored and tells the story of their adventures. The monument was made to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the "Discovery's" arrival in Vancouver and was erected 11 years ago. We have a high school named after George Vancovuer and a middle school named after the "Discovery."

This is the port authority outdoor theater for band concerts on the waterfront. It is looking towards the I-5 bridge that takes you to Portland, Oregon from Vancouver, WA.

This is me on the side of the outdoor band concert theater facing the Columbia River.

Here I am with my back to the railroad bridge that goes over the Columbia River to Oregon. This is the side of the theater where the band performs in their concerts.

This is me at the Port Authority bandstand, looking up towards the flags that fly there: U.S.----Vancouver---- and Port Authority.

In the background (of me on the fence) is the Columbia River and another fishing pier off the Port Authority band stand area. There are some people fishing there and some are probably taking a break to enjoy the beautiful Columbia River and clouds above it today.
