It has now been five months into the school year and the first semester is over. I sit in my room reflecting the past five months and how much I have improved in my writing skills. I am leaving this class a better writer. Definition essays, multi-genre essays, personal narratives, biographies and others are not like a foreign land to me anymore. I understand what each one is and what style of writing is used for it.
My favorite essay was the definition essay because I really got into it. I wrote about a topic I believed in and feel that I completely proved the point I set out to make. My least favorite essay was the multi-genre because I was not very interested in the given topic. Yet it was still a good experience because I learned a format I never knew.
I am now much more fond of writing in fashions other than casual. I used to like to write only in journals but my horizons have now expanded. I can now say that I have an appreciation for a fine written newspaper article or an essay because I understand the work which was put in.
Expository writing is a class solely based on writing but it never seemed boring or prolonged because essay themes and assignments are constantly changing. It is face paced but enough time is given to complete all work. If there was an Expos II class, I would most definitely look into taking it. For the present, I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in becoming a better writer or learn appreciation for writing.
