I decided to take the plunge and replace my computer. The old one was slow and only had a 17" monitor. I visited the Dell website and purchased a Dell Dimension 4100. It's got a Pentium III 733 cpu and 19" Trinitron monitor. I also upgraded the video and sound cards so that I can play the new, cool games.
The real adventure began when the system was supposed to be delivered. I paid nearly $100 for shipping via UPS. The UPS guy came by on a Friday and I wasn't there to accept delivery, since I was at work. He wrote on the note that he'd be back Monday between approximately noon and 3. Relying on this, I left work early on Monday and got home at 11:30 and wouldn't you know it, the UPS bastard had already been there! So I lost an hour of wages, was extremely inconvienced and got highly irritated. The bastard in brown wrote on the note that he'd be back the next day between some hours, but since I didn't know when that would be (they can't arrive during the time indicated since they're a bunch of A-holes), I opted to pick it up at the delivery center.
After work the next day, I went to the hard-to-find main dumbass delivery center. There wasn't much parking available and none near the entrance. I'm sure all the butthead employees were taking up all the spots. Once inside, I got in line and waited over a half hour while two UPS dorks dealt with customers in an extremely slow fashion. I finally got to the front and got my packages. Instead of someone delivering the packages to my home (did I tell you it cost me $100?), I had to cram them into my car by myself. Once home, the setup was easy and my cable modem even worked. At least that part went okay.
All in all, I'm happy with my new computer. UPS can burn in Hell though. |
