"Shaft" is a very good police drama starring Samuel L. Jackson as the title character. It is not a remake of the 1971 original. Instead, it is an update, as Jackson plays John Shaft, the nephew of the original Shaft played by Richard Roundtree. The story revolves around a racially motivated murder in which the rich man responsible jumps bail and goes to Switzerland. He returns and is caught. The rest of the movie deals with the case and corruption inside the police department. "Shaft" is a very good movie and I recommend it if you can deal with all the language and violence. It is not for young children though.
Rated R for language, violence, innuendo, and adult situations.
