Nicolas Cage is outstanding in "Gone in 60 Seconds." So is the movie, which features some of the best car chases in a long time. Cage plays Memphis Raines, a retired car thief who has to steal 50 cars in 72 hours in ransom in order to free his grown-up little brother, played by Giovanni Ribisi. Angelina Jolie plays Sway, a fellow retired car thief who joins Memphis in his quest to save his brother. The movie is very good and the chases are great. My only complaint is that during the chases, they would have the camera mounted on the front bumper and then they would go to a shot of the driver's face. This is unnecessary. We know that the driver is nervous and do not need to see a shot of his face. Note to directors: keep the camera shot coming from the front bumper of the car. If you want to see the ultimate car chase, rent the movie "Ronin." This movie ("Ronin") should be the textbook example of how to do a car chase the right way. I recommend "Gone in 60 Seconds," especially if you enjoy good car chases in movies.

Rated PG-13 for language and violence. 115 minutes.
