"Frequency" is a very good movie that deals with a man's ability to contact his dead father from 30 years ago. Starring Dennis Quaid as Frank, the father, it is set in New York in 1969. However, his son John is in 1999 New York. Frank, a firefighter, is killed during a warehouse fire and John grows up without a father. But in 1999, John opens up an old ham radio kit and because the aurora borealis (the Northern Lights) is out, he is able to contact his father 30 years ago.

Interesting plot isn't it? This movie has such an original plot that you have to love it. Its twists and turns remind me of last year's "The Sixth Sense." It gets really interesting after his dad does not die in the fire. Then his mother disappears out of a picture, and John learns she was (now) killed by a serial rapist/killer. So, John and Frank have to hunt down who killed her. Once again, the plot twists and turns.

The movie succeeds on its ever-twisting and always interesting plot. Stay for the entire movie; the ending is worth it.

Rated PG-13 for intense violence and disturbing images. 117 minutes.
