"Erin Brockovich" is the best yet movie of 2000. Julia Roberts as the title character is mesmorizing and utterly amazing in her role.

As Brockovich, Roberts portrays the true story of an assertive woman with a sexy wardrobe who fights for the rights of those taken advantage of, including herself. She does not take no for an answer. Erin has two ex-husbands and three children. Add that to her unemployment, and you can see how she is having trouble paying the bills. She soon gets a job as a legal assistant. While at the firm, she discovers some suspicious files regarding a real estate case. After looking into it further, she finds that the local utility company has been polluting the groundwater. Many townspeople have cancer and other various illnesses. Always a defender of the "little man," Brockovich sinks her teeth into the utility company.

This movie works on so many levels because of its utter realism. It portrays the life of a single, working mother very accurately. Erin has to balance a career, three children, and a budding romance all at the same time. She finds out it is not easy, just like in real life. The soundtrack also goes along great with this movie. Two Sheryl Crow songs, Everyday is A Winding Road" and "Redemption Day" go along great with the movie and its story. Albert Finney also stars as Ed Masry, Erin's boss.

Rated R for language. 125 minutes.
