Consider this. We may get a dozen or more IM’s during the time we’re online (which isn’t all that much). If you IM us and tell us all about yourself that’s great. But the next time you IM us all we have is your cryptic Yahoo ID by which to identify you. If that doesn’t ring a bell then you might get upset. Or we all might spend a lot re-exchanging information that we previously exchanged. And in fact we might make that exchange several times before we connect your ID with who you are. What a waste.
So, new rule: We simply don’t respond to IM’s from people who don’t have a filled out profile. With a picture of some sort. Sorry. We don’t want to waste our time. Or yours.
