September 10 (Friday): "Born to Drone" to perform at Flex-it Aerobic Studio, Mountain View, starting at 9:00 P.M. Sponsored by the Stanford Folk Dancers http://home.earthlink.net/~gino37/folkd ance.html.

September 12 (Sunday): "Fiesta De Sonoma" Valley of the Moon Folk Dance Festival sponsored by the Folk Dance Federation of California and presented by the Redwood Council of Folk Dance Clubs. This event will be held at the Veteran's Memorial Building, 126 First Street West, Sonoma. Schedule: 11:15 A.M.: Council President's meeting; 11:45 P.M.: Assembly meeting; 1:30 P.M. - 5:30 P.M.: General Folk Dancing. Donation: $5.

September 17 - 19 (Friday - Sunday): Sunsetter's Folk Dance Camp at Skylark Ranch, San Mateo County [note change in weekend from previous camps].

September 18 - 19 (Saturday & Sunday): Santa Rosa Russian Orthodox Church; Glendia; Anoush Ellas to play, Saturday 5 - 10 P.M. and Sunday 1 - 6 P.M. Debela Machka to play, Saturday 1 - 5 P.M.

September 18 (Saturday): Slavonian Traveling Band to play at Oberon Restaurant, 1450 Lombard Street, San Francisco. For more information call (415) 885-6555.

September 20 (Monday): Tanya Kostova will teach at the Slavonic Cultural Center, San Francisco at 7:30 P.M. Admission is $6.00.

September 24 (Friday): The Slavonic Cultural Center's Master Artists Series: Balkans and Beyond features a performance by George Chittenden and Dan Auvil at 8:30 P.M. September 25 (Saturday): Folk Music with Devka at 8:00 P.M. at Berkeley Freight and Salvage.

September 25 (Saturday): International Folk Dance Party at Community United Methodist Church, San Carlos sponsored by Docey Doe Folkdancers, starting at 8:00 P.M. For more information call: (415) 264-9393.

September 27 (Monday): John Daley and Friends will go over the easy Slavonic Kolos done at various festivals. This event will start at 7:30 P.M. at the Slavonic Cultural Center, 40 Onondaga Ave. (near Alemany) , San Francisco. Merhem will play live for dancing. A donation is requested and admission is free to SMBS members.

 

 

Every Sunday: Neal Sandler, Tom Roby, Marjorie Nugent and Ellie Weiner teach Hungarian dances at Ashkenaz 1-4 PM.

Every Third Tuesday: Balkan dancing with live and/or recorded music at Ashkenaz. Teaching 7:30 - 8:45 PM and party on into the night.

Every Wednesday: Folk Dance Classes from 8:00 to 10:00 P.M. at Almonte Hall (behind Tamalpias High School in Mill Valley).

Every Thursday: Mandala meets for International Folk Dance by Edith Bourbin 7:30-11 PM.

Every Friday: Albany "Y" International Folk Dancing by Mel Harte 8-11 PM.

First four Fridays: International and partner Folk Dancing at Chang's.

Every first Friday: Family folk dancing by Denise Weiss at Slavonic Cultural Center in San Francisco. Call (510) 841-0934.

Every Friday (except for occasional three-day weekends): Stanford International Folk Dancers at Flex-It Aerobics Studio, Mountain View. Live music party monthly.

Every fourth Friday: The Pomander Club features an American Traditional Dance workshop and ball with live music provided by the Paul Price Society Orchestra at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Palo Alto.

Every first Saturday: Family folk dancing by Nancy McGhee at Albany YMCA. Call (510) 528-4410.
