February 8 (Friday):  8 - 11 P. February 16 (Saturday): The Third San Francisco Tamburitza Festival Welcome Dance at the Slavonic Cultural Center, 60 Onondaga Avenue at Alemany, San Francisco starting at 8:00 P.M.  For more information call (510) 649-0941.   Becari (from St. Louis) will be the featured band.  Admission is $10.00 and kids are free.

February 17 (Sunday): The Third San Francisco Tamburitza Festival Welcome Dance at the Slavonic Cultural Center, 60 Onondaga Avenue at Alemany, San Francisco with a concert at 2:30 P.M. and the dance party starting at 4:00 P.M.  For more information call (510) 649-0941.   A number of Tamburitza bands will be featured.   Admission is $10.00 and kids are free.  Ethnic food and a full bar will be available from 4:00 P.M.

Saratoga International Folk Dancers, founded April, 1980 -- 20 years at the same location: Saratoga Community Center, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue (across the street from the P.O), Saratoga, California. Time: 8:00-10:00 PM (parties 5 times a year go to 10:30). Admission is $6.00 ($5.00 seniors). Instructor: Loui Tucker 408-287-9999 [email protected]. Usually 1 "beginner" level dance and one "intermediate/advanced" A group of anywhere from 5-15 goes out to a nearby eatery afterwards until 11:00 PM.

First four Fridays:

Changs International Folk Dancers: Meets the first four Fridays of each month at 8 PM at the 7th Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1329 - 7th Avenue (between Irving and Judah) in SSan Francisco. Teaching on the first two Fridays, party night on the third Friday, and requests and other fun programming on the fourth Friday; call ahead as the schedule varies at times. The Pomander Club features an American Traditional Dance workshop and ball with live music provided by the Paul Price Society Orchestra at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Palo Alto.

 

Every Friday before second and fourth Saturdays:

The Mid-Peninsula Scandinavian Dance does Scandinavian couple turning dances to recorded and live music at the Carriage House in Holbrook Palmer Park, 150 Watkins Avenue in Atherton from 7:30 - 10:30 P.M. All levels, come earlier for the older and easier dances. Party - no teaching - every fifth week. (Feb 3, March 8, April 12, May 17, Jun 21, July 26, Aug 30, Oct 4, Nov 8, Dec 13).
