Using Your Library�s Website Resources: A Workshop for Professionals and People on the Go
This training workshop is for professionals in businesses and organizations and students who need information from library web accessible resources. It provides reinforcement or special training on the use of 24/7 library resources beyond what their library can provide during normal operating hours. It is designed for individuals to work by appointment online and/or at their location. Libraries can refer library users after their training sessions as an optional after hours fee based service. Flexible hours are available.
The Library of Congress and American Memory Web Sites: Tools for Learning and Exploration
This workshop for librarians, teachers, students and parents explains how to use the Library of Congress� web site as a teaching resource and research publication. It includes information learned in a training session with the LC staff who developed it. Educator and author Nancy Illing co-teaches this seminar.
Reference Services for Digital Special Collections: A Melding of the Digital Revolution with Common Sense Tradition
Digital special collections are produced and sponsored by local, state, federal and international libraries, museums and other agencies as well as by vendors. This workshop will explore these collections and the service they require. It will present reference techniques to use with school age to adult users of these collections. It will explain how they compare with other digital information and collections in other formats. It will also include a look at how these collections are created, where they are located on the web and what role local and union online catalogs play in working with them.
Presenting Your Library Services: Making Successful Multimedia Library Presentations Using Microsoft�s PowerPoint, Publisher and Other Microsoft Office Software
This workshop explains how to plan and give good presentations using multimedia. Participants will also learn how to capture the attention of group and individual audiences in classroom settings, in web environments, in kiosks and in exhibits by using the audio and visual features of Microsoft�s PowerPoint and other parts of the Microsoft Office suite. They will learn how Microsoft�s Publisher, Excel, Access and Word can enhance and reinforce a presentation with professional grade publications like flyers, signs, programs, graphically enhanced Word documents, follow up newsletters and accompanying handouts with graphs, charts and database records containing media features.
