| October 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th, 16th, 21st, 23rd, 28th, and 30th - The Everhart Museum* in Scranton, PA will hold their Youth4Art: After School Museum Arts Program beginning at 3pm featuring a multi-disciplinary program designed for middle school children (5th through 8th grades) as part of part of Lackawanna County's Arts Engage! initiative. Students work directly with regional artists & utilize the many exhibits throughout the Everhart Museum as inspiration. Through experimentation, students have the opportunity to merge science with art, music with words, and history with today! At the end of the ten-day session, the students' creative responses, both individually & as a group, will be publicly displayed in the Everhart's Classroom Gallery. October 2nd - 4th - The Kirkridge Retreat Center*** in Bangor, PA will hold a workshop entitled, �Dancing with Death, Laughing with Life��conducted by John Spong�featuring lectures from his new book entitled, �Eternal Life: A New Vision - Beyond Religion, Beyond Theism, Beyond Heaven and Hell.� Please Explore The Kirkridge Retreat Center Website for more information.� October 3rd, 10th, and 17th - The Everhart Museum* in Scranton, PA will hold a workshop entitled, �Papier Mache Sculpture� conducted by Virginia Sosik beginning at 1pm providing participants with an opportunity to learn all about the papier m�ch�technique�from armatures, newspaper construction and powdered pulp mix, to decorative painting. This simple, direct medium is light, strong, non-toxic, versatile, and accessible to many ages and skill levels. The class is open to a maximum of 10 adults and teenagers and is suitable for ages 6th grade and up.�Younger students with a special artistic interest and focused attention span may contact the teacher for special admission. October 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th - The Everhart Museum* in Scranton, PA will hold workshop entitled, �Watercolor: Wet and Wild� beginning at 12:30pm featuring explorations into the basic techniques of this beautiful medium in a series lessons taught by nationally-recognized and award-winning artist, Ren�e Emanuel. The focus will be on individual instruction and demonstrations, emphasizing the process, rather than the product in order to "take the pressure off" and give participants room to learn! October 9th - 11th - The Kirkridge Retreat Center*** in Bangor, PA will hold an Intermediate Retreat entitled, �Honoring the Soul� Seminarians�and is designed for those who have participated in a Courage to Lead or Courage to Teach, Seasonal program, a Circle of Trust retreat, or another introductory retreat. October 10th and 11th - The Columcille and Megalithic Park and Celtic Cultural Center*** in Bangor, PA will present a Shamanic Retreat Weekend Among the Stones of Columcille entitled,��Ancient Wisdoms � led by Tom Cowan, Jim Wood, and Brian McGuire. Come dance among the Standing Stones at Columcille Megalith Park as we garner the wisdom of the Stones, the Trees, and the very Land Herself. Monday October 12th - A poetry workshop is held in the Community Room of The Eastern Monroe Public Library*** in Stroudsburg, PA at 7pm offering poets the opportunity to improve their craft. At each meeting, each person who has a poem to present is asked to have copies of their original poetry to everyone present. After the poet�s reading, the group discusses and comments. October 16th - 18th - The Kirkridge Retreat Center*** in Bangor, PA will hold a workshop entitled, �Yoga and Spirituality at Kirkridge� conducted by Laurice Nemetz exploring Yoga as asana (physical postures), meditation, and philosophy as it applies to Christianity and other religions along with the transformative power of the body/mind/spirit connection and the principles practiced to encourage peace in the body and the greater world.�All levels of yoga are welcomed.
