What is a crossdresser?
What is a Crossdresser? Many people as I now know from my searches on the internet crossdress, mainly male to female and a common theme is that they don't know the real reason why they do it, what drives them to enjoy dressing in feminine clothes. Of course, obvious answers are that they enjoy the feel of slinky fabric next to their skin. Certainly, there is nothing to compare in male clothing with the sheer delight of wearing sexy frilly panties and gorgeous stockings and pantyhose. To some extent, there is also the voyeur element to consider; after all, stocking clad legs and high heels can be sexy to look at whether on men or on women. And the wearer can arrange "herself" to strike their favourite sexy pose in front of a mirror and enjoy the sight of all that feminine underwear. Another reason perhaps is the "danger" element of doing something sexy, naughty and perhaps being caught, all of which can be powerful stimulation's to dress "en femme." There is also something quite overwhelming about wearing female clothes and being "someone else" and fanaticising about going out dressed as a female which can conjure all sorts of "new" sexual fantasies that require the wearer to be triggered into thinking this way only by being dressed as a woman. For example, many transvestites or crossdressers in their male mode would claim to be quite strongly heterosexual but once dressed, confess to being quite turned on by the thought of sexual encounters with men, whether other TV's or male admirers of TV's. Many of these men are happily married with children who maybe just steal a few hours dressed in their wife or partners "borrowed" clothing. Others maybe own a few items of clothing that they hide away inside the house to wear when the house is empty of other family members. Taken to its extreme, there are also males who have lived all of their life as a heterosexual family male who now realise that they have lived a lie all these years and prefer to now live as a woman. These fall into two categories, either pre-operation or post-operation Transsexuals. (TSs). This essay does not really concern these categories of crossdressers but some of the observations do hold true for TSs as well as CDs and TVs. Incidentally, the difference between a CD and a TV is moot, sometimes it is used to differentiate between a Heterosexual Crossdresser (CD) and a Bisexual or Homosexual Transvestite (TV). But often, the labels are interchangeable. A Transsexual is a term used to describe someone who believes they were born in the wrong Gender body and often revert to surgery and drugs to reverse their natural sexuality that they were born with. It is also obvious, from internet research, that many declared TVs are over forty years old. It seems that males of that age either suddenly get overwhelmed by their latent urge to dress en femme or that they become braver and more self-confident to express themselves as "Jane", "Susan," "Mary" or whoever. In any case, what is also evident is that these "feelings" that they have had causing them to dress in a feminine manner have been with them for many years, often from a very early age i.e. six years of age upwards. However, what a little research on the internet also shows is that increasingly, much younger males are beginning to dress as females, encouraged no doubt by the enormous wealth of support on the internet. Until recently, any crossdresser would believe themselves to be alone in their desire to dress in women's clothing but the internet has opened up a whole world of fellow TVs and CDs as well as an industry in itself of support. Today, TV's can surf the net, locate local clubs, specialist clothing and make-up shops as well as dressing agencies that can advise and dress the TV/CD in a manner that they are comfortable with, whether acting out a fantasy role as a maid or waitress, a "bride" or just a smart feminine look. Some psychologists also suggest that today's stressful lifestyles contribute towards males dressing as a woman in order to express their more feminine side in direct contrast to their expected aggressive male role that society expects them to play. But whatever the reasons, more and more males are enjoying the opportunity to dress as women and the internet is a catalyst for its explosive growth. No longer does the CD/TV believe that they are alone.
