| Space:1889 is a roleplaying game devoted to adventures in Victorian Science Fiction. Originally from GDW it was long out of print but has recently been revived by Heliograph, Inc, whose site contains a great deal of Space:1889 material. The Venificium campaign exists with the alternate Earth setting of Space:1889 with an inhabited Mars and Venus being colonized, much as Africa and Asia were colonized, by the European powers. |
| The Ravenloft:Masque of the Red Death setting from TSR inspires much of the Venificium campaigns looks and adventuring style. It was a Victorian Horror setting based on the work of authors like Bram Stoker, Mary Shelly, and Edgar Allen Poe. The setting posits that the supernatural evils of the world spring from a central force, the 'Red Death' of Poe's famous story. None of our adventures have proven or disproven this, yet. We have blended it with the other settings used. Though out of print, several sites exist with a great deal of Masque of the Red Death material. |

| Buffy the Vampire Slayer (UPN) and Angel (WB) These two shows provide some of the background for the Venificium campaign, one of the PCs is the current 'Slayer' of the 1890s. The campaign does not match the 'Buffyverse' exactly (since it exists with the Space:1889 framework) but does draw inspiration from these interconnected shows.
