From the Watcher's Journal of Dr. Nachtan Trevelyn:

We spent the day in investigation, trying to sort out the players in this complex play. Cat and I followed Monika and Jack around the town of Eden Cay, including a voodoo shop named Stand & Obeah. Before supper, the couple plays tennis, and separate for rubdown and to dress for dinner.

Unfortunately, Jack suddenly dies while on the massage table. We tried to chase the masseur, but lost him in the dinnertime traffic outside the hotel and casinos.

I grilled the investigating detective, while Wilhelm and Cat tried to console the heartbroken Monika. Wilhelm and I then followed the body to the morgue, where the doctor assisted in the autopsy, focussing on the massage oils. Cat tried to help Monika drown her sorrows in alcohol. I must have someone teach that girl some proper manners!

We then discovered the body had gone missing!

One Miles Gardner indicated that voodoo might be behind the murder and theft of the corpse. It dawned on us that voodoo is a key here, and Artur was sent to query Mlle. Clavelle on the presence of voodoo practitioners on the island. Artur and Wilhelm called upon voodoo expert Dr. Napoleon Remarque, who explained the nature of a zombie-raising ceremony.

Meanwhile, I went to consult my etherometer, to see if it can register supernatural events, while orbiting the island. I detected elevated readings over two of the smaller keys that extend off the southern tip of the island. A plan was made to assault Arano Key by night, after a scouting over flight. Trowley was sent to purchase a boat to get us to the island.

From the Watcher's Journal of Dr. Nachtan Trevelyn:

A daylight overflight of the two suspicious islets showed that Arano contains one rectangular building, with a watchtower. Diabolo Key, named by Dr. Remarque, is heavily wooded, except for a suspicious looking fire-pit in a clearing.

Tonight, Monika was slipped a sleeping draught by Wilhelm, and brought on board the Hermes, I begin to wonder at the good doctor’s other obligations.

Most of the us tried to row ashore on Diabolo Key. A ragged volley of rifle fire prevented our landing, so the Hermes swooped low to strafe with its Gatling gun and dynamite drops. With resistance broken up we landed at the clearing and recovered the tied-up forms of Miles Gardner and Jack Marshall. With injections of stimulants, Jack is awakened. But I recognize the mysterious Mr. Gardner to be a vampire!

From the Watcher's Journal of Dr. Nachtan Trevelyn:

It is sunrise, and the Hermes is circling near some of the other small islands south of San Cristobal as I write this.  Mr. Marshall is still

apparently dead, and Mr. Gardner has been confined to the brig. The island

below, La Arana Key, is under suspicion because of elevated etheric readings

in its vicinity.

While the mystery of what is going on deepens, it continues to center on Mr. Jack Marshall, and the papers he has hidden. We found out that the German secret service is the rightful owner of the papers, but Mr. Marshall was unable to tell us where he had them stashed and is still apparently dead, and Mr. Gardner has been confined to the brig.

From the Watcher's Journal of Dr. Nachtan Trevelyn:

Another late entry…

Hermes raced to Dr. R's place, to investigate. Cat, Artur, Wilhelm, Laszlo and the unconscious Fraulein are all to investigate Dr. R., while wearing surgical masks, while Trowley and Nachtan orbit out to sea. Cat is developing sympathy for our captured vampire, despite my best efforts to inspire her to slay him.

After breaking in to Dr. Remarque's house, they did not find him at home, and they awaited his return. In the ensuing firefight, the Doctor was wounded, and the party fled by taxi, avoiding the police. Momba, Jack, Remarque dropped.

Artur reports everything to Mlle. Clavelle, who is uspet at the results, and fires him. Everyone takes a boat to Havana, where Wilhelm attempts to register complaint with the German consul there about Fraulein's unprofesional behavior. The consul, her brother, is not pleased, and a duel results, with Wilhelm a judged the winner.

During the journey, Wilhelm conducted a medical interview with the vampire, before Cat finally staked him. I have reported everything to the Watchers' Council. We returned the plans to the Germans.
