The White Cliffs of Dover One of the best known images of England, the White Cliffs. The Chalk Cliffs are abundant all along the South Coast. Around Dover, they extend from Dover Castle, past St Margarets Bay towards Deal. I've paid three visits to the area, the latest being in May 2001, wondering around Dover Castle, then walking along the top of the Cliffs to St Margarets Bay, spending the night there, then walking back.
This is from the other side of St Margarets, looking back towards the shingle beach.
The Rape Seed was in full bloom, adding a very bright contrast to the countryside.
A close up of the cliffs, with the extensive fore shore at low tide, where the waves have dissolved away the cliffs.
