Cairo

The Sphinx and the Pyramids at Giza are the symbols of Egypt. They are 10 miles to the west of the centre of Cairo, reached by a bus, heaving with Egyptains hanging out of the doors.

The largest of the Pyramids, the Pyramid of Chephron.

The Pyramid of Chephron

Located in the Egyptain Museum, the Mask of Tutenkhamum. One of the most impressive archifacts displayed in any museum in the world. The mask is of beaten gold inlaid with lapis lazuli and other gems.
 

In the other direction to the Pyramids, the Citadel is a vast fortification on a raised plot of land. The Mosque of Mohammed Ali is shown below.
