Heading east from San Diego along I-8, you will get to the Cuyamaca State Park,
a glorious escape from San Diego, where grass grows naturally
(the only green grass you see in San Diego is on manicured lawns watered every night
by sprinklers).
I just love getting out into the meadows, sun streaming down, dreaming of the landscape in 'Grizzly Adams'
This is on the west side of the river, on the valley floor. It gives me a taste of the rural landscape I miss of England. This was taken in early spring, the valley lush from the winter rains
This is the same view, except taken late Autumn, with the ground parch from a summer of constant sun.
Further east, following the romantically named 'Sunrise Highway', you pass through Mount Laguna, the highest mountain of the range
Mount Laguna is most known though for the dramactic contrast between the well watered west, covered in pines and meadows, and the desert immediately to the east
