The Hotel Del Coronado is by far the most famous building here. An all wooden building, standing since 1888, it sits graciously at the southern end of Coronado Beach. The inside is like a stately home, all in dark wood, you feel it is almost a Scottish Castle.
Coronado is across the bay from San Diego, connected to the mainland
via the bridge and a sand spit down to Imperial Beach - so it isn't really
an island at all, just a long penisular. 28,000 people live here, all in
picket fenced houses. Around one and a half miles square, the roads are in grid fashion,
with Orange Avenue being the main drag.
This is where I live in Coronado...
The former Oakwood Appartments, now the Coronado Bay Club.
It's only a studio flat, just about large enough for me.
The real reason why I am here is below, the nice long open air swimming pool
and jacuzzi. The place is right next to the bay, 5 minutes walk from the ferry,
the other delight of living here.
