Big Bear

I drove up to Big Bear the start of May. It's in the San Bernardino Mountains 8000ft above Los Angeles. In the winter, it's a giant Ski Resort, in the summer, people mess about in the water, and go hiking in the mountains.

The drive from San Bernardino up into the mountains is called the 'Rim of the World' drive, giving grand vistas of the LA Basin and the mountains around.

I stayed in Big Bear Village, close to the waterfront

You can drive around the lake, it's around 20 miles or so, to less developed parts

I hiked up the Cougar trail, which connects the Lakefront to the Pacific Crest trail which runs along the ridge above. This gives great views of the lake and the snow capped mountains behind.

At the top, you can glimpse into the next valley
