Barcelona Spent 4 days here over Easter 2003, staying north of the city in Gracia, by Plaza Molina. The first evening was great weather, and the first thing we saw was Casa Mila (La Pedrera), below.
A wonderful flowing organic building, the higher floors contain a museum dedicated to Gaudi, the architect. The attic is like being inside a rib cage.
Up on the roof, the wonderful architecture continues, with the Gaudi's Cathedral in the background.
Gaudi's unfinished Cathedral - Sagrada Familia. Started in 1882, Gaudi dedicated his later years from 1912 to the project, till his in 1935. It's not planned to be finished until 2026, but there is major building work when you go around it.
The interior of the Cathedral is not complete - there's not even a completed roof. However at one end, a beautiful Cubist style stained glass window has been placed.
Casa Batllo, another Gaudi gem on Passeig de Gracia, just above Les Rambles
Montserrat was a wonderful day trip out. Overly busy, particularly as we visited on Good Friday, however once you got away from the crowds, on the walks above the monastery, there was some great scenery
Some of the typical rock formations you see above Montserrat.
