Oct 06 - Present - Horndean Technology College - ICT Assistant
I am currently working at Horndean Technology college as an ICT Assistant. this
is a ideal job for me as I am aiming to become a ICT teacher over the next 5 years,
so the experience of working in a school is an advantage. I am using this to improve
my knowledge of ICT systems used in a secondary school, improve my basic knowledge
of IT and also help me with revision for my MCSE exams and also to help me when
I start my Computer Studies Degree early-mid 07.
The main duties involved in this post include:
- Equipment support - Including Hardware maintenance, software
updates and virus checks.
- Troubleshoot problems for staff amd resolve where possible.
- Clean hardware regularly
- Administrative tasks of security marking, maintaining inventories
of equipment, stock replenishment of consumables, ensure licences are updated and
maintain an awareness of new products.
- Provide support to staff by liaising daily on their needs
and provide continuation training where requried.
- Assist teaching staff and provide assistance to students
in the use of ICT technology.

- Responsible for stock rotation
- Responsible for maintaining stock levels by reporting excessive
and insufficient delivery's to head office.

Feb 01 - May 06 - Royal Navy - Able Seaman
- Member of NBCD emergency party responsible for Firefighting,
Damage control and NBCD Containment.
- Member of the ships maintainance team, ensuring the ships
material state remains adequate for operational duty
Feb 03 - May 06 - Royal Navy - Operator Mechanic Communications 1st Class
- supervisor to junior members of the communications team,
whilst providing adequate continuation training to ensure the highest standards
are maintained.
- Assist in the maintainance of communications (transmitting,
receiving and decoding) equipment.
- Maintaining and accounting for classified material and
cryptographic material on a regular basis, including the secure destruction of these
materials.
- Worked with complex VTC (video teleconferencing) equipment
and help implement into use onboard ship and land based locations as well as ensuring
connection quality is optimum and unbroken

- Worked under supervision as a valued member of the ships
communications department.
- Operator of modern and intricate communications (transmitting,
receiving and decoding) equipment
