Sure, it's only been up for a few weeks, but, Geez, guys! Over 100 of
you have now dropped by, according to Bravenet, and not one of you was
motivated enough to even leave off a post saying "Hi, I was here". How
hard would that have been?
This is one of the many things I don't like about the whole concept of
"elder" : it gets people used to being passive, kicking back and
letting some authority figure do their thinking and speaking for them.
I was seriously considering trying a few other posts to give you folks
an assortment of topics to reply to, like maybe one about drinking in
classical times, but why bother? Even if some of you start posting,
it's going to be like pulling teeth to get anybody to contribute.
That's todays Pagan : they're all "give me, give me, give me", and
never "what can I do to help?". I'll tell you something, my
tounge-tied friends, the people who found the gods back in the 90s -
those were Pagans. One would be off getting a bardic circle going -
not planning, doing, with actual readings. Another would be
researching the history of a festival while a third ... one couldn't
keep track of it all.
But these people coming into Paganism today ? They're tourists. They
don't have anything to say, there isn't anything they are trying to
do, they just wander around looking for a spectacle to gawk at.
And the pathetic thing is, you people probably won't even have
anything to say in reply to this, either.
Inserted editorial comment : And, indeed, they never did until the day we took down the old board at Bravenet, even though a few hundred more visitors came by before we did so, according to the counter on our redirect url.
