Whatever you want to call it, the new list is being run under a much different concept than the one I had in mind, when I wrote this page, as it should be, because this idea that I was playing around with didn't work).
Let's start with one basic understanding. This is not intended to be a discussion forum. In my experience, the Net has been a failure as a place to hold reasonable, productive discussions. When attempts have been made to use it in that way, it has empowered lunatics and crooks, and destroyed friendships, while giving nothing of value in return. It is time to give up on that idea.
Where the Net has been very successful, has been in Networking. It has been very useful, for bringing people together. It is a nice tool for giving wide, inexpensive exposure to literature about groups, and about what people are trying to do. That is what this list is for. Introducing yourself, and what it is that you are trying to do.
If you saw an ad for a class you didn't like posted on a kiosk, would it be appropriate for you to staple a critique of that class over it? No, of course not. Think of this list as being an electronic kiosk.
