Career
The Game made his WWE debut in May 1995 as Hunter Hearst-Helmsley, as an arrogant blueblood. In his first pay-perview he defeated Bob Holly. Hunter won his first belt by defeating Wildman Marc Mero for the Intercontinental Championship on Raw in October 1996. His next piece of success came in the shape of King of the Ring '97 by defeating Ahmed Johnson in the semis and Mankind in the final.
A few months later D-Generation X was formed with the members including The Game, HBK Shawn Michaels, Chyna and the late Rick Rude. The group turned out to be one of the most controversial of all time.
When HBK lost the WWE Title to Stone Cold at WrestleMania XIV, HHH broke away and formed the new DX. In his first night as leader he chose the new members who would turn out to be The New Age Outlaws and X-Pac. The group would a month later invade WCW Monday Nitro which WCW would return the favour three years later.
On the 28th of March 1999 at WrestleMania XV the Cerebral Assassin joins Vince McMahon's Corporation. HHH finally acieved his goal of becoming WWE Champion on Raw by defeating Mankind.
He lost the Championship in a shock lose to none other than Vince McMahon. However, Vince's reign was short lived and HHH retained the title by pinning The Rock in the Six Pack Challenge at Unforgiven. He was champion of the WWE until the replacement for Stone Cold, who had earlier been ran over, Big Show pinned the Game and became champ at Survivor Series.
During the marriage ceremony of Test and Stephanie, live on Raw in Novemeber '99, Triple H shocked the world by announcing that he had drugged Stephanie McMahon and married her in a Las Vegas drive-thru wedding chapel. At Armageddon Vince wrestled to set Stephanie free from her marriage to HHH. Ironically Stephanie turned on her father and walked off hand in hand with her husband, thus starting the McMahon-Helmsley Era.
With Shane and Vince out of the picture the couple raised hell in the WWE. Triple H again became WWE Chammpion by defeating the man he had previously lost it to, Big Show.
At No Way Out 2000 Triple H took on Cactus Jack in his first Hell in the Cell. HHH emerges victorious and send Mick Foley to retirement as a stipulation of the match. Although they would meet again, thanks to Linda McMahon, at WrestleMania XVI it would be there very last match together. The Game also retained his title that night.
Hunter lost the title again this time to The People's Champ, The Rock, at Backlash. This ended his longest title date of four months. A month later he would capture the title again in an Iron Man Match, with the special guest referee Shawn Michaels. He beat the Rock 6 falls to 5 thanks to the Undertaker.
At King of the Ring 2000 Triple H lost the title back to The Rock in a six-man tag match. The Rock pinned HHH's partner Vince McMahon, but the rules stated that if any member of Triple H's team were pinned, The Game would lose the championship.
At Survivor Series the same year he battled Stone Cold to a bizarre no-contest; the match ends as Triple H is dropped 20 feet in his car from a forklift operated by Austin. Ironically Triple H joins forces with Austin on Raw in April 2001 to create "The Two-Man Power Trip." Later the duo would become the Tag Champs after beating Undertaker and Kane at Backlash. This would make Triple H the second person to become a Grand Slam Winner.
On Raw the 29th of May 2001 The Two-Man Power Trip lost the tag belts to Chris Jericho and Chris Beniot. However the big story of the night was that during the match Triple H suffered a torn quadricep which would sideline him for the rest of the year.
In January The Game made his pay-per-view comeback at the Royal Rumble. Triple H entered the 'Rumble number 22 and went on to winning the match by eliminating Kurt Angle and winning a title shot for the Undisputed Belt at WrestleMania. The stage was set for the Grandaddy of them all. 68,237 sold out the SkyDome and saw Triple H beat Chris Jericho for his first Undisputed Championship. Triple H would then go on to lose the belt to Hulk Hogan.
With a divorce from Stephanie on the 21st of July 2002 The Game would sign to Eric Bishcoff's Raw. Triple H and his long time friend, Shawn Michaels, would be working on the same show again. However, it was not to be. HBK is thrown through a car window and the gulity party turns out to be HHH. The two pair off at Summerslam is a NO DQ. The victor at the end of the night would turn out to be HBK. the next week on Raw Bischoff would bring back the WCW Championship and would present it to HHH.
