The Gainclone Amplifiers

Intro and Conclusion

These are the amplifiers that are currently powering the Shorties. Their sound is very nice, and they are easy and inexpensive to build. They use the National Semiconductor LM3875 amplifier chip. Under my current configuration, they output about 30 watts into 8 ohms. This is more than enough for my current configuration. The resistors that I used are Rikens. The Capacitors are Panasonic FC series 1000uF. The binding posts are WBT and are fully insulated. The power connection is a CB radio connector.

They have a separate power supply using a 500 VA toroid. It uses MUR860 diodes to rectify the AC. This power supply also houses the DC power supply for the preamp.
