Legacy December 31, 1989 Legacy: December 31, 1989 I fight the hard fight in these poems I write struggling with my visions of strange places and missions Like the sight of a child laying homeless on the street where does a legacy go to if it doesn't have someone to meet Oh yes, that is included in the legacy of which I write it is a legacy that mankind leaves an uncaring one for homeless people The homeless are human too please stop to help them or better yet give of your time to help these people out But this is not all to be found in my legacy these poems of which I write come and I'll show you more I see in different countries people struggling to be free around the world I hear the call FREEDOM yet another legacy For people are struggling to be free from the tyrants of the world and yet they are enslaved by their own desires and sins But Jesus offers freedom from the burden of sin that is why He died for us to give us freedom Accept Him as your savior and go to heaven bright accept God's greatest legacy and be saved this very day Just admit that you are a sinner and believe in Jesus's power and confess Him to others and be on your way to freedom and a better day Legacies of life now come rushing into my poems and things are not bright to some children today For some have nothing to brighten their saddest day they have no laughter to turn things around Into this sad situation comes a poet and a clown leaving behind his legacy laughter to fight their frowns For I do know sadness because the clown is me I cry for the children and write poems of laughter But laughter is not enough for some children these days they have cancer in their bodies what can turn these kids around I do not have an answer but another man did have a dream the man, Danny Thomas, dreamed of a very special hospital A place where young cancer patients can get help for no charge and over the years this dream became a living legacy St. Jude Children's Research Hospital where the children are treated today they have a better chance of surviving than ever before Another man's legacy then is included in this one for I am greatly concerned with the fate of the children As I have said before and I will say it many times these poems that I write are my legacy to the world It is a hard task I set wanting to change the world it is impossible for me to do alone but others are joining in These then are my legacy given to all to read and see this poem will continue to grow probably for the rest of my life For as long as I live I will continue to write poems of my dreams and visions or anything else in sight Who knows but someday my dream will come true but come what may it will carry me on Paul Vernon Deffendall December 31, 1989 prior Legacy next Legacy back to Legacy index![]()
