Gniew

A fortified Teutonic Knights' stronghold started in the late 13th century, sited at the edge of the WisÓa escarpment. In the second half of the 17th century the castle was a residence of the future King of Poland, John III Sobieski. At the end of the 18th century the castle was turned into a military barracks. Nowadays, after some conservation works, it serves as a tourist complex containing a hotel.
