A little hunting palace built in the years 1822-1824 for Prince Antoni RadzwiÓÓ, governor of the Grand PoznaÕ Duchy, belongs to the most original works by the famous architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. It is a wooden building whose shape, construction, and style resulted from the author's evdeavors to create new architectural forms; a trend characteristic of the early 19th century period. The palace is considered to be one of the most remarkable works of contemporary European architecture. The great Polish composer Fr¾d¾ric Chopin, stayed there as a guest in 1828. Now the carefully reconstructed palace houses a hotel. The vast park gradually turns into a forest. Close to the palace stands the RadzwiÓÓ family mausoleum, probably designed by Schinkel. |
