The Highs and the Lows

Lightning hit 200 while Jimmies only manage 30 in separation week

Week six saw a little bit of everything. There were high scores (Grand Rapids shattered the previous league record of 175 by scoring 200 while the Crazy Jimmies and Alaskan Assassins were punished by poor lineup choices in scoring 30 and 41 respectively in huge losses. There were also two close games that came down to the bitter end. And all the while, the contenders got a little bit of separation from the pretenders.

First, a record breaking performance from the Grand Rapids Greased Lightning. It took awhile, but after a slow start, the Lightning offense has been rolling. For the first time in league history, a team topped the two-century mark. The record-breaking lineup: Jake Delhomme (19), Shaun Alexander (38), Edgerrin James (33), Reggie Wayne (11), Santana Moss (29), Kevin Curtis (13), Willis McGahee 22), Jason Witten (11), Shayne Graham (7) and the Buffalo Defense (17). "Two bills is sort of a mythical number in our scoring format," said Lightning coach Nick Klein. I always thought it would take a tremendous score from almost every player, and that's what happened. I had to use the calculator three times to confirm the number.

On the flip side, Dave's struggles continued. While Tatum Bell has finally turned things around, starting three players on the bye and two injured players led to a season-low 41 points after scoring only 43 last week. The Assassins have lost four straight after winning their first two.

The 69ers fell to 1-5 had six players in double figures, led by Chad Johnson's 19 points.

Corey Dillon didn't play, but it didn't hurt Ironwood as Mike's team improved to 4-2 with a 77-point blowout victory. Lamont Jordan led the way with 20 points for the victors. Jim (1-5) was hurt with an ineligible player a bye and an injury in putting up a season low point total.

Yukon Icebreakers 91 Whooping Llamas 66
Yukon overcame injuries and byes and won a divisional game against the Llamas. Drew Bledsoe led the Icebreakers (4-2) with 20 points. The Llamas (2-4) were led by the Lions's defense and their 26 point performance, but injuries to two starting running backs doomed him.
