Squeaking One Out

Eugene holds on for 92-84 win over Llamas

Losing Javon Walker for the season to an ACL-injury was bad enough. The prospect of starting the season 0-2 in the difficult PFL Western Division would only add salt to the wound. Leading 84-74 going into Monday night, Duane was glad that the Whooping Llama's Julius Jones only outscored the Levies' Deuce McAllister 10-8 for a 92-84 victory.

It was Jamal Lewis' second straight dismal performance for Jeremy's team. "That's it! I'm cutting him," joked a frustrated coach Durham. That, of course, prompted offers from other coaches including a conditional draft pick from Travis and a warm bag of urine from Nick.

Around the League

Alaskan Assassins 130 Muskegon Mudhens 96
It's pretty rare that a team gets zero points from their starting running backs -- you can't even intentionally do that succesfuly most of the time. Yet that's what Dave's Assassins did...and yet still scored 130 points thanks to Donovan McNabb (37 points) and Joey Harrington (his five picks helped the Bears defense scored 31). Th loss will knock Brian's team out of the top 50 of the national rankings. Dave (2-0)will likely move into the top 50 with the convincing victory.

Grand Rapids Greased Lightning 80 Climax 69ers 74
In the latest installment of this rivalry, it was Nick avenging his only loss in 2004 to Paul's 69ers in a woefully pathetic offensive output for both clubs. Each team scord just one touchdown and the quarterbacks combined for 15 points. "Our games are always close...but they are usually in the 100s or 110s," said Klein. Grand Rapids improves to 2-0 despite not getting over the 90-point mark in either victory.

Standale Big Knox 115 Crazy Jimmies 76
Jeff avenged a poor week 1 showing and Jim did the exact opposite as the Big Knox, led by Brett Favre's 30 points evened their record at 1-1. Hines Ward added 20 and LaDanian Tomlinson and Willie Parker each added 17. Jim falls to 1-1 with the loss.

Yukon Icebreakers 108 Ironwood Cox 72
Travis also bounced back from a week 1 loss thanks to Terrell Owens' 26 points and TJ Houshmenzedah's 19. Michael Vick and Domanic Davis added 14 apiece. Mike's offense took a step back after a solid all-around effort in week one, getting three touchdowns, but fewer yards from the role-players.
