Big Knox put up big points in win over Yukon

It was a well rested team that took the field for the Standale Big Knox. With half the lineup returning from bye weeks, Jeff scored a key victory over the new look Yukon Icebreakers in a high scoring 135-104 affair. Recently acquired Rudi Johnson and Brien Westbrook combined for 30 points, but it was not enough to overcome an offensive onslaught from Jeff's team.

The win sets up a pair of showdowns next week in each division. Standale (7-3) trails Grand Rapids by one game, but a victory would secure a season sweep over the Lightning and tiebreaks for the division title, and top seed in the playoffs. Yukon holds a one game lead in the West over Eugene and clinches the division with a victory. A Eugene win would mean a season sweep for the Levies and pave the way for a division title.

AROUND THE LEAGUE

Climax 69ers 129 Ironwood Cox 97
The Climax 69ers were 0-4, in last place and had every excuse to start thinking about 2007. Paul, however, saw it as a challenge and after winning six out of seven, now are in a position to clinch a playoff berth with a win in either of his last two games. This, thanks to a 129-97 victory over division rival Ironwood (7-4). Drew Brees led all scorers with 32 points to lead the 69ers (6-5) while Tom Brady scored 23 for the Cox. Four teams now have winning records in the competitive PFL East. "I'm proud of the way my team has bounced back after such a struggle in the start of the season," said Paul. "Mark my words, when I make the playoffs, I'm going to do some damage."

Grand Rapids Greased Lightning 114 Crazy Jimmies 91
The Jimmies put up a good fight against the defending champs, but Shaun Alexander's 23 points was more than enough to give Jim his tenth consecutive loss after winning in week one. The win sets up Grand Rapids (9-2) for its' showdown with Standale next week. "It's becoming a pretty heated rivalry," said Nick of Jeff and the Big Knox. "As well as they have played, they have to be the odds on favorite to win everything this year." Aaron Brooks scored 28 for the Jimmies in the loss.

Whooping Llamas 91 Alaskan Assassins 88
Jeremy dealt Dave a nearly fatal blow in his quest to make the playoffs for a fifth consecutive year as the Llamas (3-8) eeked out a three point win. Donald Driver and Jerry Porter led a randomized lineup with 20 points apiece while Larry Johnson nearly single-handedly kept the Assassins (4-7) alive with 33. Injuries to both of Dave's quarterbacks sealed his fate as both Donovan McNabb and Brien Griese were inactive.

Muskegon Mudhens 94 Eugene Levies 71
Brian kept his playoff hopes alive at the expense of the free-falling Levies. It was the fourth straight loss for Duane (6-5), whose team was led by Kerry Collins and Dallas Clark's 18 points. The Mudhens (4-7) were led by Peyton Manning's 30 point performance.
