Kitchen

I was looking in House Beautiful in the spring of 2007 and really was taken with a kitchen that had a lot of turquoise accents. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted a kitchen with turquoise accents (previously a dark green had been the main accent color). However, turquoise for kitchens hasn't been "in" since the 1950s, so I ended up painting the canisters and a utensil jar, painting the bread box, and hunting far and wide for linens and other accents. I'm not sure it's "done" but I like it so far.

Divider wall looking into kitchen.. New turquoise accents on the divider wall.
Green canisters and linens. Turquoise canisters and linens brighten the room.

Other Kitchen Shots
This replaces my dark green bread box. The burner covers are decoupaged, using a watercolor painting done by me.
I couldn't find turquoise sink accents, but the
Kokopeli stuff has some turquoise and looks
good with my appliances and woodwork
The plant watering jug isn't exactly turquoise, but it looks OK in there with the other stuff and I love the modern shape
I found this rug to go in front of the sink. It has
turquoise on the edges, but also shades of blues,
browns and tans that tie in the colors in
appliances, woodwork, and other household decor.
A close-up of the spoon rest I found on Amazon.com
This beautiful gift from a friend is on the kitchen divider wall. This carousel was a TJ Maxx find, and has aqua and turquoise shades. It is also on the divider wall.
I got the lovely trivet between the towels from Color Bakery I'd been keeping my eye out for a turquoise clock, and found one at Bed Bath & Beyond
Another shot of the clock, which is above the doorway to the dining room 7/21/07: Added a valance for the kitchen window; yet another shade of turquoise, but I like it
Decided to try the painting that inspired the burner
covers on the wall above microwave
Here is the painting in context of its surroundings
