A meteor is to strike Earth in 18 days. The only way to get rid of it is to land on the meteor, drill a hole 800 feet into the surface, and stick a nuclear bomb into it, blowing up the meteor and sending the debri harmlessly past the Earth. A group of oil diggers ("roughnecks"), the best on Earth, is going to be sent into space to drill that 800 feet hole.
