Vultures

People don't appreciate vultures a lot, but keep in mind that they are the roadkill cleanup center of the South. They serve a purpose!!!!

Fugley is a Black Vulture. He came in as a golden ball of feathers (just a baby). Kinda looked a bit like Big Bird, huh?. He had wing fractures and was being
fed the wrong diet. Since birds need to get all the calcium that they need for
proper bone development in their first 6 weeks of life, this can be serious.
He is a joy to visit. Always glad for the company and attention.

Dumb is a Turkey Vulture. She came in with Dumber and Blackie (a black vulture). We were to give them time in a flight cage, then to release them.
When the time came for release, Dumb just kinda stayed around the first year
or so. She would come to visit and get handouts. She tried to take baths in JungleJudi's hottub and sat under the dryer vent to keep warm.
She would also come in when we had a storm a look pathetic, so that JungleJudi would bring her in till it was clear.... And We named her Dumb!!!! Seems kinda smart to me... She showed up less and less over the past few years,
but sometimes you look up in the trees and there is Dumb.

In this picture Dumb is masking her food so the other vultures
cannot see it from the sky to rob her.
