The Vine
I am a vine
Clinging to a wall;
I pretend that I am like the wall--
Sturdy and Proud,
But I live in fear--
Fear that one day
The wind may come--
The ice cold wind will come
And see me for what I am,
A thin, pretentious weed
And I, timid and weak
Will shrivel and die.
