"THE PERKS" Being a twin can be fun! It's very amuzing when we play the "twin switch-a-roo" on people. Especially to those who don't know she has a twin. Hehehehe. I remember one occassion in particular where I was at Pam's place of business and the door was shut to my sisters office when we heard a knock. I answered the door and the employee said "Here's your keys back." I was blocking the view of my twin (wasn't intentional) because I only opened the door so much, and I said to her, "Are you sure you want to give these to me?" She said, "Well yes, they go to blah blah blah" and I said, "thats not what I mean" then opened the door more and stepped aside so she could see my twin (her employer). She let out this high pitched scream and kept yelling "YOU DIDN'T TELL ME YOU HAD A TWIN!" (LOL) We must have laughed about that for 10 minutes straight! Pam and I love a good laugh so this is the highlight of being a twin for us. We also love being playful and childish when we are together and we always will.
This pic was one of many we had taken during a photo shoot for our 36th bithday. Shhhhhhhh...don't tell anyone we are that old! :-) That's Pam on the right, I'm on the left.

"The drawbacks" All in all, it's fun being a twin but it does have it's drawbacks also. I remember opening Christmas presents all too well when I was young. I would watch Pam grab a present to open and thinking to myself...if I dont hurry and find the same size present under that tree, I'm gonna see her open it and already know what I'm getting. WOW...sometimes it was a different color but the thrill was gone. Birthdays were another issue too. Here it is...today is my birthday and what do we get? A clock radio we had to share! How do you share a clock radio with someone? We would fight over the channels and she never wanted to get up at the same time I did. Sure there were other presents, but that clock radio, at that time in our lives, was the highlight. Drawbacks to being an adult twin is going out in public and someone coming up to you and start talking to you like they know you. Only they don't realize the person they know has a twin and they are speaking to her. It is also hard to show my face in some public places because of her and vice versa because of our jobs.
"Oddities" People are fascinated with twins. Especially Identical Twins, like my sister and I. Many twins over the last few decades have been studied and reseached to understand more about us. But, unless you are a twin yourself, you will never truely know what it is like. It's weird having someone speak at the same time you do because she is going to say the exact same thing you do. And it's even more odd to know what the other is feeling or thinking when she isn't even in the same room as you. My sister and I, have even sharred identical dreams within days of the other. Pam (my other half) once dreamed an event I was in and something specific happened to me that she wanted to warn me about. Only I was already living it while she lay asleep in her bed dreaming, and awoke the next morning to ask me if it had indeed happened. I lived with gallbladder problems for 7 years and finally had it removed only to turn around and watch Pam experience the same problems and had to have hers out 2 months after mine. When I announced to family members, during a family get-together, that I was pregnant (my first child), my sister's mouth dropped to the floor. I thought she was just excited for me but she announced that she too was pregnant. (her first child also) After our first prenatal checkup, we were both also astonished to find out that we both sharred the exact same due date. We both had girls! We both have 2 children now. Our Married names both have 4 letters in them and the beginning letter that starts them is 4 letters apart in the alphabet and both names end with the letter E. There is so much more, I could write a book.

Baby Photo That's Pam on the right. We were almost 2 years old in this photo. Pictures of us before this age, are even hard for us to tell who is who. Some we haven't got a clue. As infants, our own mother had to paint one of our toe nails purple to tell us apart, so both babies got fed and changed.
